MHC restriction（MHC拘束性）とは
MHC分子の溝の部分に、抗原となるペプチドが結合し、その両者をT細胞の抗原受容体が認識するのでした。このようなときに、もしMHC分子が他人のMHC分子だったとすると、もはやこのT細胞受容体は、この抗原ペプチドを認識しなくなります。あくまで同一個体内のそのMHC分子とその抗原ペプチドの組み合わせを、そのT細胞受容体が認識することができたのです。このように、他人のMHCだと認識しないということをMHC拘束性と呼んでいるそうです。そのようなことになる理由は、Ｔ細胞の発生・成熟過程にあります。
成熟したＴ細胞は「制の選択」を受けた際に使われたＭＨＣと同じ表現型のＭＨＣによって提示される抗原ペプチドしか認識することができなくなる。（免疫学コア講義）

MHC拘束性 というのは MHC restrictionの訳ですが、MHC restriction の意味を理解するにはrestrictという動詞の意味をわかればよいです。A is restricted to B.でAがBの範囲内に制限されているという意味です。Smoking is restricted to that room.（アルクの例文）という例文を考えるとわかりやすいでしょう。何が、何の範囲に制限されているのかというと、T細胞による抗原ペプチドの認識が、「自己のMHCに結合しているペプチド」の範囲に制限されているということです。つまり、他己のMHCに結合しているそのペプチドは認識できないのです。

日本語訳の「拘束性」というのはちょっとわかりにくいです。「ある範囲に制限されている」と理解したほうが、自分はしっくりきます。

もう一つ別の表現。CD1a分子は非古典的MHCクラスI分子に分類されるものですが、CD1aが提示する抗原しか認識しないという制限がかかっている場合に、CD1a-restrictedという言い方をします。MHC restrictionやMHC-restrictedという言葉遣いと同じ考え方によるものです。
CD1a is expressed on Langerhans cells (LCs) and dendritic cells (DCs), where it mediates T cell recognition of glycolipid and lipopeptide antigens that contain either one or two alkyl chains.
