レプチン発見史

レプチン遺伝子突然変異体マウス(肥満マウス obesity; ob)とレプチン受容体遺伝子突然変異体マウス(糖尿病マウス diabetes; db）のパラビオ―シスによる解析から、ダグラス・コールマンは、「満腹因子」が血中に存在するという仮説を提唱しました。その正体が明らかになったのは、フリードマンがレプチン遺伝子のクローニングに成功した数十年後のことでした。

コールマンとフリードマンは2010年のラスカー賞を共に受賞しています。
