ソフトスキルとは、ビジネスに必要な専門知識や技能ではなく、対人交渉術などどちらかというと言葉に表しにくい、定量評価がしづらい能力を指します。

ビジネスにおける成功にはソフトスキルが必須であると言われますが、ソフトスキルが捉えどころがないものであるかぎり、科学研究の対象になり得ません。そこで、ソフトスキルをどうやって、数値化するかということが問題になります。一つの方法は、ソフトスキルが必要なタスクの遂行中の脳活動を記録測定して、脳活動データを分析することによりソフトスキルの実行、程度を定量することでしょう。そのためには、被験者を束縛しない状態での脳活動の測定が必要になります。そのような脳活動計測の手段として、脳波測定がよい候補になることでしょう。
実際、ソフトスキルと脳波との関係を調べる研究のと取組があります。
